How to Teach Financial Literacy

Learn the latest skills

In today’s fast-paced and complex economic environment, financial literacy is more important than ever. Financial Literacy is a comprehensive course designed to help you equip your students with the essential knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions.

Throughout this course, you will explore fundamental topics and concepts, such as managing personal finances and financial risks, smart consumerism, recognizing financial scams, understanding employment and social responsibilities and creating an entrepreneurial mindset.

The course also provides new insights into implementing team-based activities across various topics and introduces free digital tools you can use with your students.

During this hands-on course, we will visit a local vocational school, and cook a meal together in a Finnish middle school home economics classroom. The training even includes a day trip to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.

As a takeaway, you will have a deepened knowledge of financial literacy, a toolbox of activities for teaching financial literacy which you can use with your students, and the competence to create more activities with your colleagues in your own school.

The added value of the course are the innovative methods and approaches to be implemented into daily activities in teaching and learning. Additionally, the course offers participation in an experience exchange on EU level.

Upskill your organization

Target group is all the persons working in school or other areas of education, youth work and educational support, for example creating educational programs & material.

The course covers a wide range of topics that schools need to consider and tackle when introducing or updating their understanding of the traditional and modern day (social) media and students' skills to use them responsibly.

In the course you:

  • Understand the significance of financial literacy in today's economy.
  • Deepened knowledge of financial literacy
  • Identify and address personal challenges in teaching financial literacy.
  • Assess and compare various existing methods for teaching financial literacy.
  • Competence to create more activities with your colleagues in your own school.
  • Apply practical insights from school visits to enhance classroom teaching.
  • Toolbox of activities for teaching financial literacy, which you can use with your students

In the course we work individually and in groups and create a concrete action plan to be used in your own school. Participants are given time to develop these outputs and the trainers coach and support them throughout the week, and if necessary, after course.
